2024 Brief
- Client: TIDAL
-
- The Challenge: Craft a data-driven storytelling campaign that creatively transforms listener data in a new and exciting way, compelling them to share on social media.
- Audience: New and rising music artists, alongside Gen Z and Millennial music enthusiasts with disposable income.
- Some background: TIDAL is a global music streaming platform that connects fans with artists through unique experiences. With over 100 million songs and 650,000 videos in its catalog, TIDAL stands out. In a significant move in March 2021, Square, Inc. acquired a majority ownership stake for $297 million, keeping music mogul, JAY-Z as a shareholder and part of the Board of Directors. This collaboration positions TIDAL to operate independently within Square, uniting economic empowerment, and artist support, and delivering an exceptional music streaming experience for users.
- Helpful Insights:
-
- TIDAL boasts one of the highest payout rates in the industry, compensating artists approximately between $0.0125 and $0.013 per stream. Despite the high payout rate, TIDAL's relatively smaller user base compared to Spotify or Apple Music impacts the overall artist earnings on the platform.
- Artists on TIDAL need about 80 streams to earn a dollar and 80,000 streams to reach $1000, making it a more financially rewarding platform for creators. In contrast, Spotify pays artists between $0.003 - $0.005 per stream, requiring just under 23,000 streams to reach $100 in payment.
- TIDAL currently provides users with a "My Most Listened" playlist, summarizing their top music choices on a monthly and annual basis.
- Since 2016, Spotify's data-driven Wrapped campaign has captivated listeners, dominating the music streaming scene and claiming the most share of voice at the end of the year.
Your idea will be judged on how original, creative, and unexpected it is.
